America- " A little to helpful?"

Tuesday afternoon, January 12th, the worst earthquake in 200 years - 7.0 in magnitude - struck less than ten miles from the Caribbean city of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The initial quake was later followed by twelve aftershocks greater than magnitude 5.0. Structures of all kinds were damaged or collapsed, from poor town homes to landmarks. This event shocked the whole world including me as I followed up with the progress of the road to recovery. I was amazed at how the world seemed to pull together and worked as one to help one of the poorest countries in the world.

Now, this is where It I will get you to think beyond what you are seeing.

Now this may sound controversial, but I feel that America has invested to much into Haiti. I agree with them in helping out a third world country and I know all of us were saddened by this event. But have you ever stop think what America probably expect in return for being such a great help? I think so. America do not like countries that are not about democracy. If you are not democratic, or trying to be so, historically the chances are that the American government is going to try to take you out. America is just trying to make a name in the world as being " The Helpful Country". But when it was our turn to be helped out, who came to our need? No one.

Secondly, where was all this help and togetherness when New Orleans was struck by Hurricane Katrina? When one of it's own was under water and calling for help, the response took forever. How is it that America is so quick to help someone that is not of their kin or beliefs but took so long to help one of their states? Also, it is known that we are in a recession and that America has no money. So my question is where did all the money that went into Haiti come from?

This is just something to get you thinking beyond what is shown to you on television. Nothing is giving for free without a price. Feel free to agree or disagree with my standpoint I have taken. It is that “ Do you think there is a catch to America’s Over Generosity?” Or Not. Time to get Political.
